KotaKinabalu West Malaysia, 19 February 2007. This year lunar new year is the second year that i joint with my wife family Amirah. Since I part of my wife family the celebration is different specially about the food during reunion dinner. Halal product and halal food is new concept and way to respect us from my wife family. The following were served during the eve of lunar new year dinner. Steam chicken with herb sauce, steam fish with soya sauce and shark fin soup and dessert with cheese cake and durian. And for the following the first day of lunar new year the menu as followed. Prosperity crab with black paper, chicken with chest nut, Mushroom with green bean, shark fin soup most of them my wife the one who cooked. Special Associates Awg Md Karim and Dyg Tengah with General Manager Datin Hjh Zainah Bujang (C), Executive Chef Ken Yeong (L) and Executive Housekeeper Sumantri Endang (R).

Bandar Seribegawan 13 April 2004. Sheraton Utama's Special Associates, Awg Md Karim bin Hj Metussin and Dayang Tengah bte Hj Abdullah, marked their first anniversary at the hotel this month.
The two, who have a hearing and speech impediment, joined the Sheraton Utama team last year on a part time basis from Pusat Ehsan. Each associate underwent ample training for his and her respective tasks.
Awg Md Karim was given the responsibility of being an all-round kitchen aide with special focus on the upkeep of Utama Corner, the hotel's dining room for associates.
Commenting on his contributions since joining on April 1, last year, Executive Chef Ken Yeong as his immediate supervisor said, "Awg Karim is diligent and enthusiastic in his work.
"He takes the initiative to ensure a high standard in his work by constantly asking questions through sign language or writing."
Soon after Md Karim had settled into his daily routine, he recommended the hotel as a friendly and safe workplace to a friend with similar disabilities. Awg Safee is now a satisfied associate with Sheraton Utama as well.
Playing a role in the hotel's laundry department since February 17, 2003, Dyg Tengah was welcomed into the team by her supportive colleagues.
Sumantri Endang, Executive Housekeeper, comments, "Dyg Tengah is a good and hardworking member of our team. Other associates have also learned more from her such as how to communicate in sign language."
Sheraton Utama hopes to be able to provide more opportunities to other special associates. As General Manager, Datin Hjh Zainah Bujang puts it, "Sheraton Utama, as an equal opportunity employer, is always on the lookout for special talents who are willing and motivated in providing uncompromising service to guests."

A lovely American couple was impressed with Sheraton Utama and Brunei Darussalam hospitality. Mr and Mrs. Marcy K. Kolodny visit Brunei and the Sheraton Utama Hotel Brunei Darussalam, during their 5 hours short trip to Brunei, this lovely couple very enjoy this clean country, interest places such as Royal Regalia, Yayasan and lunch with " BIG BURGER " which i recommended to them was a programmed of the day. Mr and Mrs Marcy K Kolodny continue the journey by cruise ship to the next destination with memorable experience. As souvenir I gave them hotel postcard, nice to see both of them.

Bandar Seribegawan 22 February 2007. Another way to exceed of guest expectation is by creating a simple "Welcome Tools". Mr.Khalid is our long staying guest, he been away for couple weeks travel to middle east and other south east Asia country. To create a very warm welcome home plan require to set up a small team and the tools its self. Involve the maid to get more ideas, get agreement to connect with guest and set up the conversation guideline but is fine if maid would like to explore further on the conversation and of course get the champion on this small project to lead and to make sure is implemented. Set up the " Welcome Tools " on this small project we have agreed to provide " Cap Kaki Tiga " drinking water. The reason behind is very realistic, people arrive from middle east which is very hot temperature normally in hot body condition " Cap Kaki Tiga " drinking water is purpose to reduce hot from inside the body. Tend card to create connection in Bahasa Malay also provide. In order to look interesting welcome amenities placed in the black tray with flower get from garden. Bandar Seribegawan 10 February 2007. As a Lobby Ambassador I talk actively, hand shake to the guest tried as much as possible to engage with all in house guests or just guest who come to the hotel. Mr. Radu Cojocaru and Mr.Viovel Gaber, Rumanian who stayed with Sheraton Utama hotel. The second day of stayed at the hotel they were no more longer as business man they are now as tourist.
Being understand to the country and the guest i start communicate with Mr.Radu explaining the interesting part of the country that can offers, recommend them to visit the beautiful mosque, Royal Regalia and Temburung park were part of the content of the conversation. I also managed to connect them to the best sport in town which was jog at the hill. Every afternoon hundred of brunei resident were flock at the Tasek Hill the recreation park. One of the oldest declared nature reserves in bandar's interior precincts. Tasek Park is a pocket of rainforest just 15 minutes from the hotel. It has 5 star facilities for the park from rubber jogging tarck which normally you can find only at the olympic stadium standard, children play ground, rest room, rest house etc. My self Mr.Radu and Mr.Viovel manage to jog up the top of the Tasek hill approxemetly one hour to completed one around the hill. It was wonderful experience engage and make connection to the in house guests. There are part that I will and always do " exceeding expectation " which implemented by doing spontaneous to Mr. Radu and Mr. Viovel. Well nice to see you Mr. Radu and Mr. Viovel hope will see you again.

The third series in the Sheraton Experience module were conducted from 29
January to 1 February 2007. Classes divided into two morning from 9 am to 12 noon and afternoon from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm there were 8 classes in total. I was conducted 6 classes for this module. The objective this module by the end of the session participant will be able to : Understand the four components of emotional intelligence, Identify how empathy can enhance work place interactions,Understand what behaviors increase or decrease emotional bank accounts and improve feedback.
