Soup Kambing ala Chef Sumantri

Soup kambing is a simple and delicious and also two in one dish served with rice when hot you will experience soup whilst enjoying the main course in the same menu. Here’s Soup kambing recipe ala Chef Sumantri

Ingredients

Blend all the following ingredient

Nutmeg

Cinnamon

Ginger

Clove

Pepper

Garlic

Onion

Salt

--------------------------

Parsley leaf – cut into fine size

Carrot – cut into small size

Tomato – cut into small size

water

Oil

Shoulder lamb / lamb prefer with bone – cut in medium size

Method

Heat oil on in saucepan, add blended ingredients stirring constantly until fragrant add lamp stir and water, simmer for 30 minutes. When lamp tender add carrot and parsley, salt to taste. Serve hot garnish with tomato.

Me, my wife and Junior Deedat are one among million families in this world who celebrate three new years. Being a Muslim family we have Hijrah or New Year in Islam calendar, being international community we witness international New Year on 31 December and I support my wife to continue to keep a live a heritage of Chinese culture to celebrate Chinese New year. Chinese New year just right around the corner we begin to decorate our house with red decoration. CNY is one of the most significant festivals in the Chinese community; the Chinese New Year is celebrated throughout the world with equal fervor and enthusiasm. Traditions and age-old customary beliefs mark the celebration of this Chinese festival. Celebrations elsewhere in the world apart from China are also observed by the following of significant traditions. Celebrations include traditional dance and musical performances along with other cultural shows. The significant Chinese community observes Chinese New Year in Brunei like most of the countries in the world through the following of customs and rituals.

About Chinese New Year in Brunei

Celebrations of Chinese New Year in Brunei are observed with reference to the dates of the lunar calendar. The festival for the year 2011 is scheduled from February 3 to February 17. Celebrated by the Chinese community residing in Brunei, the festival continues for the entire period of two weeks. Signifying family reunion and homecoming, the festival is observed by exchanging gifts and greetings among close family members and relatives. A grand dinner on the Chinese New Year eve is a major highlight of the celebration. The dinner represents abundance, prosperity, and good luck for the year ahead.

Chinese New Year Traditions in Brunei

Traditions mark a significant part of the festival celebrated by the Chinese community of Brunei. Customary rituals like, house cleaning, offering money to the kids and using the color red throughout the celebration marks the traditional of the celebration. As per the Chinese belief, the color red signifies joy and represents truth, virtue, and sincerity while bringing in fortune and good luck to the household. Another customary traditions followed by the Chinese is offering red envelopes containing money to the kids, as they seek blessings form the elder members of the family. This symbolic gesture represents good luck and coming of wealth in the New Year. Cleaning of the house also forms a significant part of the customary following of traditions. Bandar Seri Begawan - The Empire Hotel and Country Club made a spectacular show leaving 2010 to make way for 2011 on New Year's Eve.

The hotel nearly reach 90 per cent occupancy, serving the most customers in 2010 and held special dinners for the year's end. The Atrium held an international-themed night with soft music played live and balloons dropped half an hour before the final countdown.

The customers and occupants of The Empire Hotel and Country Club were given a special treat with a fireworks display at midnight. The hotel welcomed 2011 with a spectacular bang as everyone gazed in awe at the myriad of colourful fireworks.

Nasi Tumpeng by Sumantri

Nasi Tumpeng is a cone-shaped rice dish like mountain with its side dishes (vegetables and meat) is 100 % Indonesia.Traditionally featured in the slamatan ceremony, the cone shape of rice is made by using cone-shaped weaved bamboo container. The rice itself could be plain steam rice, uduk rice (cooked with coconut milk), or yellow rice (uduk rice colored with kunyit (turmeric).

The cone shaped rice erected on tampah (rounded woven bamboo container) covered with banana leaf, and surrounded by assorted of Indonesian dishes.

People in Java, usually make Tumpeng to celebrate important event. The feast served as somekind of thanks giving for the abundance of harvest or any other blessings.

In gratitude ceremony (syukuran or slametan), after the people pray, the top of tumpeng is cut and delivered to the most important person. He or she may be the group leader, the oldest person, or the beloved one. Then, all people in the ceremony enjoy the tumpeng together. With tumpeng, people express the gratitude to Allah swt and appreciate togetherness and harmony

The Jakarta History Museum (also known as Fatahillah Museum) is housed in the former City Hall located in the old part of the city now known as Jakarta Kota,

Originally called the Stadhuis, this building was the administrative headquarters of the Dutch East India Company, and later of the Dutch Government. Built in 1710 by Governor General van Riebeeck, this solid building hides below it notorious dungeons and filthy water prisons. Most prisoners, both Dutch rebels and Indonesian “natives” were publicly flogged, barbarically impaled and executed on the square called the Stadhuisplein--now known as Fatihillah Square--while the Dutch overlords looked down superciliously on the proceedings below from the portico and windows above.

Indonesia’s freedom fighter Javanese Prince Diponegoro, who was treacherously arrested, was imprisoned here in 1830 before being banished to Manado in North Sulawesi. Another freedom fighter earlier imprisoned here around 1670 was Untung Suropati from East Java.

In the center of the square is a fountain which served as water supply for the colonial capital, Batavia, while to its north is a Portuguese cannon, believed to be a font of fertility.

Today, the Jakarta History Museum displays the history of Jakarta from prehistoric days to the founding of the town of Jayakarta in1527 by Prince Fatahillah of Banten, and through Dutch colonization from the 16th. century onwards until Indonesia’s Independence in 1945.

The collection includes a replica of the Tugu Inscription that dates back to the 5th century under the reign of the great King Purnawarman, evidence that the center of the Tarumanegara kingdom was located around the present day seaport of Tanjung Priok.

Further historical evidence of thriving Sunda Kelapa Harbour is a 16th. century map and replica of the 1522 Padrao monument, commemorating the friendship treaty between the Portuguese and the Sunda kingdom. Furthermore, maps and drawings show the establishment of the City of Jayakarta in 1527 by Prince Fatahillah. While the rich collection of Betawi and Colonial style furniture dating to the 17th, 18th and 19th century belongs to one of the most complete in the world. This collection reflects the influences of various cultural elements on the City of Batavia, namely from Europe, especially from the Netherlands, from China and India as well as from Indonesia itself.

I love an interior of the restaurant, probably one of the best interior for its class for chicken rice restaurant. Modern, chic, clean and very confident look. I rate 9,5 out of 10.

Culinary Experience

Being specialist in chicken rice, I must admit that the chicken rice here is good, the taste of rice, the chicken itself and the prize is also reasonable. I rate 9 out of 10. There are many variety also on beverage selection from hot to cold.

There must be a reason why the prize is so cheap for afternoon tea set at Rizqun hotel, now we find out why. We were there 2 weeks a go at 3.30 pm afternoon.There were only 2 tables occupied, afternoon on the weekday is always quite and empty says one of waitress on duty even though the location right in the busiest Brunei shopping mall, now I knew it that is why an aggressive promotion is introduced.

Restaurant ambience

Clean and straight forward set up, an extension the mall atrium may a smart way to increase the number of cover. I rate 8 out of 10

Culinary experience

I ordered mee mamak and coffee, presentation was good and creative, taste was also not bad the portion probably no small for called mee mamak, the prize $ 5 with coffee is worth. I Rate this for 8 out of 10.

My wife order cheese cake and coffee. She both was fine and good. I rate this 9 out of 10

Service level

Food we ordered was arrive quick, baby chair was also available, smile and attentive service too. I rate 8 out of 10.In general of my comment is worth to have afternoon set tea at Rizqum International Hotel - Brunei

My review of Mount Kinabaku Heritage Resort & Spa – Malaysia by Sumantri

This time my review is about Mount Kinabalu Heritage Resort & Spa or called Perkasa Hotel, locate atop a hill and has commanding view of the majestic Mount Kinabalu. The resort is already surrounding by beautiful scenery and fresh cooling air is fantastic set up in overall.

Lobby appearance

Clean, neat and simple lobby, you will straight away find the reception counter. score 8 for lobby out of 10

Public area

The resort is already surrounding by beautiful scenery and fresh cooling air is fantastic set up in overall. Clean parking area, grand hotel signage to welcome you once you reach the resort, tidy and beautiful garden and grass. Clean lobby toilet as well. Score 9 for public area out of 10

In-Room experience

We checked in around 3.00 pm room was ready we un loaded all our luggage and continue explore places of interest in Kudasang area without checking the condition of our chalet 5. At 7.00 pm we get back to our chalet then we encountered some inconvenience experienced.

The first inconvenience we encountered when I want to charge my camera battery the electric socket was found loose and does not work at all, secondly we found that the TV is not working the hot water is not functioning . Disappointed with this situation I quickly reported to reception, there was no apologies been offer but the reception female promise to send somebody to fix all the problem. The maintenance guy came very quick, he temporary fix our electric socket so I can charge my battery, he also help me to figure out how to get hot water and the best part was he suggested to add a hot water from the kettle. He also replace one of the TV component so all fixed and I can watch TV, charge my batter and the most important is to bath my 9 month Deedat. Thank to him.

I though that’s it at the later staged we found more inconvenience experience toilet water hose was leaking, wall crack and paint peel off, dirty stool, cob web everywhere and the worst part is you been welcome by cockroach hanging on curtain. I score my In-room experience is 3 point out of 10 far from my expectation . The resort need to work on this seriously.

Brunei Darussalam 1 December 2010,The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Brunei Darussalam held its annual staff dinner party with the theme "Back to 60/70" at lavish brand new grand hall Indera Samudera The Empire Hotel & Country Club – Brunei Darussalam

Begin with Welcome speech by Desmond Acheson the hotel general manager and follow with department performance. There were 11 group performances, The Country Club Department with Indonesian traditional dance won first prize. The best-dressed title went to Front Office and FB service.

Manager of the year, employee of the year from front and heart of the house were also announced on that night.

The event fulfilled with fun and awesome support from the staff more than 600 staffs turned up with their very best 60 and 70 era costumes. Arrays of food from around the world were also provided.

I was blessing to have a talent to sing, as usual not letting this opportunity missed. This time “I saw you standing there “was song title I selected taken from the very best album of renowned group The Beatles. With only one time practice, The front office group band was plays fantastic instrument and melody and Surprise and surprise the moment I started singing the same time respond from audience to dance begin.

At later staged with Executive Committee member of the hotel I also performed dance “ That 's the way aha aha I like “. EXCOM 8 name of the group claimed to be world the best group who won many prestigious award, form in tinny country in Borneo, the member consist of 8 people from around the world, Johnny the Desmond General Manager, The Sun King, HR Director from Malaysia, AA, Myself Executive Assistant Manager/ Director of Rooms from Indonesia, Miss ATE the director of Sales and Marketing from Canada, Gucci, The Director of FB from German, cash, the financial controller from Indonesia, The fish bone, Executive chef from German and last but not least Rahim, the director of property maintenance. We were performed for 6 minutes begin with slide presentation and follow by dance

In general was great party and successful party, the event were also attended by Board of Director Hjh Zetty and Mr. Abdullatif.

Sabah, East Malaysia 19^th November 2010. First of all I’d like to thank you to our dear friend Lillian who treats us in New York New York restaurant recently during our holiday in Sabah. This page will also talk about my review on New York New York restaurant.

New York New York restaurant s an all-American food restaurant and located in the biggest mall in Borneo Island on the ground floor of 1 Borneo Hypermall, Sabah, East

Malaysia.

Restaurant ambience

Grand and huge entrance with New York New York signage is welcomes you when entering the restaurant. The big Statue of Liberty poster on its wall at the entrance is also greeting you. I also impressed with interior from color coordination to furniture set up, from giant New York life style poster on the wall to the ceiling ornament. All nicely done. The restaurant is also very clean. I rate 10 score out of 10, very impressive.

Service level

Warm, quick, efficient and effective, I rate 8,5 out of 10. Our food order was handle effectively. Food was arrived 15 to 20 minutes. All staff always greet and thank all guest, very connected. The only thing I’d like to comment is one of our order, salad arrive after the main course.

Food experience

The giant portion of every dish is remarkable; we ordered three types of soups, mussel, seafood platter, and meat platter and lamb steak thus other condiment such as salad and garlic cheese bread. I don’t really feel that all food coming from chef skill all the food taste coming from sauce where all the sauce readymade where you can find in supermarket. You name it all there from mayonise, chilly and tomato sauce, thousand islands, mustard and more. Some people may not realize this they all just enjoy the food just like me. I should say 7 score out of 10. However food experience really remarkable due to giant portion of food presentation.

Sabah East Malaysia 15th November 2010,Kundasang is a village in Sabah. It is located about 6 kilometres away from Kinabalu park and is renowned for its vegetable and flowers market which is open seven days a week. It is the closest village to Mount Kinabalu and has a panoramic view of the Mountain. Has cool and fresh weather it offers, a big contrast from the hot humid lowland Sabah.It is populated mainly by the native Dusun ethnic and a very small population of chinese people Almost all the shops are operated by locals. Its take 2 hours drive from our house in Turaan to reach Kundasang. Worth to visit places : Nursery/Rose garden we spent 2 hours here, vegetable market, golf course, resort around the mountain.

I enjoyed cooking and I even claimed myself as a master chef in my own kitchen. Today Sunday 7^th November 2010, I cooked “ Ayam Penyet “ Penyet means flattened to get the chicken flattened you must smash the chicken, Ayam Penyet my version is Flattened/smashed fried chicken served with sambal and plain rice and served with lalapan or ulam-ulam that include lettuce, petai,slice of tomato.

Ayam Penyet Originating from Java, Indonesia, because of migrant worker ayam penyet can now be found in neighboring Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia and other part of the world.

Thursday 28 October 2010 – The presentation held during The Empire Hotel and Country Club held its 3rd Quarter, Employee Recognition gathering this event was also to reward and recognize employees and managers who actively contributed to the organization, through their good work performance, positive attitude, and involvement in hotel employee activities the past 3 months.

The photography contest, held in conjunction with the Hotel’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations, carried the theme “Energy” and received 28 creative entries. I won the 3^rd Place, title “Good to Great” was picture orange team moving forward through staircase and the winning entry, “100% Satisfaction” was a picture of a housekeeping colleague handling the laundry with a cheerful disposition, taken by Dini G. Sumantri by colleague from Sales Department and 2^nd place goes to Chua kangOng from purchasing.

The Empire Hotel & Country Club recently held a "best congratulatory wish" contest on Facebook to mark its 10th anniversary.

According to a press release, the contest was open to all Facebook users for a day and it was well received. Within 24 hours, the hotel received over 500 congratulatory messages and increased its number of "fans" to over 3,000.

One of the well-wishers, Rohanita Hj Md Tudin, was picked by the hotel's management team as the lucky winner of a two-day, one-night stay at the hotel's new deluxe room (inclusive of breakfast for two). Rohanita received her prize from Sumantri Endang, the EAM Director of Rooms for The Empire Hotel & Country Club.

The hotel has been celebrating its 10th anniversary since the beginning of the year.

In conjunction with The Empire Hotel & Country Club's 10th year anniversary, the hotel has been holding monthly draws. The draw ends this month.

All winners of the monthly draws will stand a chance to win a BMW X1 in the "ultimate grand draw".

In this page will review “ Bann NuchaThai Restaurant “ located at 2nd floor, The Mall, gadong, Brunei Darussalam.

Interior

Clean and contemporary environment, the restaurant was also decorated with Thai ornament but some is fake not real. Beautiful bunch of veggie decoration at the entrance of door, green and red chilly on the on glass container were all plastic.

Food

Our menu on that day were, papaya salad, chicken green curry, mango fish, rice and ice lemon tea

Papaya salad

Its cost you $ 5, papaya salad, known as som tam, is popular in most areas of Thailand, and when you taste it, you'll know why. The slightly tart flavor of the green papaya combines well with the spice of red chili pepper and the saltiness of shrimp paste and fish sauce, plus the sweetness of sugar. Green papaya salad is a beautifully unique and flavor-filled dish that will make a great impression, low-calorie, and very nutritious.

Green Curry Chicken

Our chicken green curry we ordered is very aromatic, tick sauce with spicy flavor, its cost you $ 7 . I gave 9 score for taste and 8 score for portion

Mango fish

This dish is my wife and my favorite dish, with $ 15 price we expect big, crunchy and fresh fish but I feel bone is half of the fish already and got fishy smell too but the mango salad was fantastic and just right the taste. I score overall taste 7 and 8 score for the portion of the dish.

Service

Our main course arrives first and half way when we enjoy the main course the mango salad arrive. The waiter and the chef may need to talk each other or both probably need to learn more

Brunei Darussalam 27th October 2010. The Empire Hotel & Country Club’s, Brunei Darussalam recently held two days team building program at Ulu-Ulu Resort Temburung. About 27 employees consist of General Manager,Executive Committee member, managers and assistant managers joined this event from 26th October to 26th October 2010.

Experience journey to Ulu – Ulu Resort Temburung

All 27 participants depart from the hotel at 7.30 am and transfer to Kiangeh jetty in Bandar Seri Begawan. From here we board speedboat for 45 minutes proceed to Bangar town. Arrive at Bangar town go for quick toilet and continue to Batang Duri by Bus for another 20 minutes, at Batang Duri we were welcome by two ladies in Iban costume Then travel upstream in longboats to Ulu-Ulu resort national park watching for wildlife on route. The longboat trip 12 kms adventures upstream through the rapids wet and exciting. Occasionally the longboat needs to be pushed over shallow water, or a river section must be walked around while the boatmen negotiate the rapid. Arrive at the resort we were welcome by the resort management team and our team builder.

Unlocking Human Potential

Unlocking Human Potential was the main title for two day management team building, facilitate by EQ Training &Development Sdn.Bhd with three facilitators for this program, Mr. Shangkar Santhiram, Mr. Suresh Sundaram and Mr. Andy Gerald Ho.

Compare to other team building, what I’d like from this team building Program were the program delivered with a mixture of classroom theoretical sessions (30%) that are interactive and fun; visual aids in the form of short video clips (10%); indoor activities and case studies (30%); outdoor team activities (30%). Where other team building program dominate nearly at 90% outdoor activities.

Class begins with introduction from facilitator and opening remark by Mr. Desmond Acheson, The General Manager of The Empire Hotel & Country Club and follows by the “program rule”. Class then divided into three team, namely “ B 2day and Fox 2morow” as my team, “Rainbow Warrior” and “Trengiling” each team consist of 9 participants. Team leader selected require to explain the team name, the rules also stated every one aim to win the most number of points, the winning team will receive a prize. Each team was also developing presentation and a war cry. Everyone were also requested to remove their professional title and come up with own name with whatever people want to call you during that two day event, so my name is AA and I am ordinary employee. Program was also introduced how to recognize those who contribute toward the team by sharing their opinions by speaking out on the public, Rosliza then selected as a clap master.

Facilitator engaged the participants in interactive discussions that draw attention to self-awareness concepts. Through these sessions, participants understand their own roles and get aligned to their goals. Once this is done, Facilitator will make parallel the participant personal goals to the organization’s goals. Change is only achieved when people decide to change! The sessions are based on the works of renowned management & team building experts like Bob Proctor, Anthony Robbins, Stephen Covey, Napoleon Hill, Alvin Toffler, Robin Sharma to name a few.

This cover approximately 50% of program and include:

Everyone has what is termed as ‘down-times’; where they face a dip in motivation. If they are unable to re-ignite passion at will, the lack of motivation becomes widespread. In this program, Participants requireto maintain motivation through our specialist activities. Activities that fostered the bond between team members included kayaking, treasure hunt, jungle tracking via suspension bridge and canopy walk ,The Canopy Walkway rises over 60 metres from the ridge top to above the tree tops. Empire Hotel marks 10th year anniversary

The Empire Hotel and Country Club marked its 10th year anniversary recently. To bless the remarkable event, an anniversary prayer was held at the 19-hole, Country Club.

The programme started with the Maghrib prayer, followed by doa selamat, tahlil, surah yaasiin and ended with Isyak prayer, led by Ustaz Abu Kassim. Among the attendees were Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Abdul Lattif bin POKSSDP Hj Md Yussuf and Hjh Zetty Zarirah Dato Paduka Haji Metassan, Board of Directors of JPH Sdn Bhd and the hotel's management. Later in the evening, a cake cutting ceremony was held to mark the 10th anniversary celebration.

In conjunction with the hotel's 10th anniversary, monthly draws have been conducted since June this year. Customers who have spent a minimum spending of $50 nett per bill by cash or credit card at the hotel, are automatically entered into the monthly lucky draw to win the fabulous prizes. Today Saturday, 16th October 2010, marks the 10th Year Anniversary of The Empire Hotel and Country Club. The Hotel kicked starts its 10th Anniversary – Experience the Magic celebration earlier this year with numerous promotions and events such as Amateur Photography competition, sand castle sculpture & longest ‘Kek Batik’, monthly lucky draws and more. In fact, more activities are lined up until the end of the year in celebration of the 10th anniversary. The anniversary spirits are filled within all employees and yesterday over 200 employees gathered for a group photo, forming number ‘10’, expressing the exciting 10th celebration.

Sunday, 10 October 2010 – A historical moment for The Empire Hotel & country Club happened on Sunday 10/10/10 at 10.10 am. A signing ceremony was held for room refurbishment project for The Empire Hotel and Country Club at the Conference Room. The memorandum of understanding was officially signed at 10:10am between Bandtree Sdn Bhd and McHouse Interior Decor Sdn Bhd as in conjunction with the hotel’s 10th Anniversary.

Signing the MOU were Abdul Lattif Bin POKSSDP Hj Md Yussuf, Director of JPH Sdn Bhd on behalf of Bandtree Sdn Bhd and Sharifa Masani Binti W.Alwi, Director of McHouse Interior Decor Sdn Bhd as a main contractor,. The ceremony was witnessed by Hjh Zetty Zarirah Dato Paduka Haji Metassan, Director JPH Sdn Bhd and Shawn Narcis from McHouse Interior Décor Sdn Bhd.

Nearly 100.000 people flocked for the last of three days to Istana and I was one of the well-wishers greeted His Majesty and other member of the Royal family of Negara Brunei Darussalam. An annual Royal Hari Raya open house at Istana Nurul Iman when closed to 36.000 on the third day or final day were myself and other Executive Committee member of The Empire Hotel & Country Club pay tribute to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other member of the Royal family.
The open house event at Istana is awesome moment. Every touch point is an experience from the moment enter the gate of the palace, VIP lounge experience, culinary experience, connect with people from different country and different look, queuing moment, exterior to interior and the most is to be with the king in the biggest palace in the world. The Empire Hotel and Country Club held a prize presentation ceremony for the Amateur Photography competition to all the nine winners in each category - People, Interior and Exterior.
During the competition, over 125 photos were submitted by 60 participants.
The first prize winner in the People Category was Safuan Hj Abdul Majid. He won a Canon EOS 1000D SLR Camera, a gift voucher for two-night-three-day stay in Deluxe Room at The Empire Hotel and Country Club and a certificate.
Second place went to Rickster, who won a Canon Power Shot E1 Compact Camera, a one-night-two-day stay in Superior room and a certificate, followed by Hj Tejudin bin Hj Sulaiman, who came in third place and won a Canon IP2772 Printer, a dinner voucher at Pantai Restaurant and a certificate.
Meanwhile, in the Interior Category, the winner was Safuan Hj Abdul Majid, who won a Canon EOS 1000D SLR Camera, a gift voucher for two-night-three-day stay in Deluxe Room at The Empire Hotel and Country Club and a certificate.

The competition was well received by the local residents. The hotel's management was amazed with the submitted photos and will keep and utilize the photos for any commercial purposes.

My first blood donation after 5 years away from South East Asia joint The Empire Hotel & Country Club a blood donation campaign held at its meeting room on Tuesday 10th August 2010 for RIPAS Hospital Blood Bank and participated by more than 100 staff members
The Empire Hotel and Country Club has long been committed in helping community development and the donation was part of the hotel's social responsibility in assisting RIPAS Hospital Blood Bank to stock up on blood supply for those in need such as cancer, leukaemia patients, accident victims, surgical patients, premature infants, burn patients, trauma victims and blood disorders like thalassaemia, haemophilia, and sickle cell disease.
The Empire Hotel & Country Club holds blood donation campaign every year and it is well supported by their team and management.

The first ever Empire Amateur Photography Competition held in conjunction with the His Majesty 64th birthday and The Empire Hotel & Country Club 10th Anniversary. The Theme of competition was “Experience the Magic “open with 3 categories; People, Interior and Exterior. There are 64 Participant given the opportunity to photograph the hotel premises excluding guestroom and back of the house from 20th July to 27th July 2010

Winners were selected based on 3 unique ways process:
Stage 1, 5 local Professional Photographer panel were invited to select the best of 10 each category from 127 photos received entrée.

Stage 2, is censor stage, divided into three different censor, first is censor originality of photos submission, all soft copy of best 10 from each category has been checked by canon and second was to check the profile of the participant through professional judges to ensure none of them professional. Next censorship is select 5 best photos out of 10 base on hotel business perspective, selected by the management of The Empire Hotel & Country Club.

Stage 3, is voting, the best of 5 photos from category of People, Interior and Exterior were display for 3 days at the Horizon Café, the hotel staff cafeteria, the Empire Hotel & Country Club staff were given the opportunity for voting. The highest voted were automatically the winner of this the very first time Empire Amateur Photography Competition.

Its final judging process held from 3 to 6 August 2010 the staff hotel voted for the best of 5 from each category. The Top three winner in each category will be announced on 6th August 2010 at 2.30 PM at The Empire Hotel & Country Club

Judging Empire Hotel's Amateur Photography Competition Begins
Bandar Seri Begawan - Over 125 photos were submitted by the participants of The Empire Hotel and Country Club's Amateur Photography Competition.

The first judging stage, which is carried out by invited professional photographers, will see the selection of the top 10 photos for each category - People, Interior and Exterior.

The invited judges are Jerome Wong, Awang Saffri Hj Abd Halim, Hj Mohd Zailaney Hj Nordin, Jan Shim and Goh Choon Fai. Judges were invited to choose the best photos based on criteria such as the overall execution or craft of the photograph, the production value, relevance of the photograph to its respective category, photo composition as well as the emotion conveyed by the photograph.

Participants were given a week-long period (July 20 - July 27) to take snapshots around the hotel premises based on the theme 'Experience The Magic', which is in line with the hotel's 10th anniversary. Excellent photos were submitted by the participants, which showed their efforts in creative photography.

The second stage of the competition will be via a vote based on the commercial use for the hotel's business and will be voted on by the hotel's management.

"We are looking for a photo that speaks for itself according to the theme, regardless of the photographer, the equipment, or the history of the shoot, this is going to be very tough" said the executive assistant manager, director of rooms division and organising committee of the competition, Sumantri Endang.

Brunei Darussalam 25th July 2010, This could be Brunei's longest Kek Batik has entice patrons on Sunday July 25, when pastry team from The Empire Hotel and Country Club presented this famous delicacy,in 6.4 meters long. 21 cm width and 4 cm thickness.

The event held in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's' 64th birthday as well as it being one of the exciting activities in line with the hotel's 10th anniversary.

Batik, the word's origin is Javanese, its etymology may be either from the Javanese amba ('to write') and titik ('dot' or 'point'), inspired from batik pattern the Kek batik become a local popular cake with today chef creativity the popular cake will be "one of a kind" with five flavors namely blueberry, raspberry, peanut, Nestum and layered kek batik.

This longest Kek Batik need 38 kilograms of butter, 12 kilograms of sugar, 24 kilograms of flour, 30 packets of Marie biscuits and 80 eggs, and Chef Md Fairuz Hj Ibrahim, Assistant Pastry Chef need a workforce of 5 people preparing over a span of three days.

Nasi lemak by Sumantri

Nasi lemak ,The name is derived from the cooking process whereby rice is soaked in coconut cream and then the mixture steamed. Sometimes knotted screwpine (pandan) leaves are thrown into the rice while steaming to give it more fragrance. Spices such as ginger and occasionally herbs like lemon grass may be added for additional fragrance. Nasi lemak is a dish sold in Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore but nearly none in Indonesia, some says nearly similar with Nasi Uduk, yes both are using coconut milk but other ingredient used were different my opinion completely 2 different dish, both have own character of taste.
Nasi uduk is commonly served with emping (melinjo chips), empal, fried chicken, and fried onion sprinkled on the top of the rice. Additional side dishes might be added according to one's taste. Chili sauce is also common in nasi uduk preparation where Nasi Lemak,traditionally, this comes as a platter of food wrapped in banana leaf, with cucumber slices, small dried anchovies (ikan bilis), roasted peanuts, hard boiled egg, and hot spicy sauce (sambal) at its core. As a more substantial meal, nasi lemak can also come with a variety of other accompaniments such as chicken, cuttlefish,pickled vegetables (achar), beef rendang (beef stewed in coconut milk and spices) . Traditionally most of these accompaniments are spicy in nature.
In Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei claimed as national dish. Originally common for breakfast but now common for all day dinning. Now day every restaurant create more variety when serve nasi lemak writter had an experience different of nasi lemak form Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei

My answer to the question : Brunei is very selective in marketing tourism. One of we want to excel in this area is Luxury.

Brunei Darussalam 3rd June 2010. I join Gala Award Dinner, Brunei Halal 2010 held at The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Brunei Darussalam on 3rd June 2010. Organized by Brunei Wafirah Holding & Ghanim International Food Corporation. Events begin with Doa, opening remark from CEO organizer. Adding flavor to this year's programme is one minute of speech by Chef Boby Chinn.

Highlighted on that night were menus for dinner. Three course of winning menu from “Cooking from the Heart” competition were served from appetizer, main course and dessert. The announcement of the winners was made as well that night for public category and inspiring Chef

Feedback on the program, corporate video presentation was stated on the program but was not happened due to technical problem and Salawat and other Islamic religious song performance by group on that night was not suitable to be called as entertainment while having meals, i think!!
But overall program was bringing positive message to local and global market.

EDPRO is a program tailor-made to meet individual development needs and hopefully, its take candidates to greater heights in their career. There were 13 candidates from various hotel department joint this program.

The program officially commences in June 2010 and will last until June 2012. There are four phases to the program as highlighted, Phase I-Developing competencies in your specialization. Phase II- Developing competencies in areas directly related to your specialization. Phase III- Developing competencies in areas not-directly related to your specialization
Phase IV - Skills Enhancement through On-The-Job Training / Cross Exposure in Sister Property.

In a joint effort to send a strong message in the struggle against climate change and caring for our planet, The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Brunei Darussalam will be joining hands with people of Brunei under initiative from Prime Ministry’s Office and pledging to conserve energy from 9.00AM to 9.00 PM during ENERGY DAY on24th May 2010.
We encourage you and your family to do SOS (S)WITCH (O) OFF & (S)ET in your resident
1) Switch off Unnecessary Lights
Only light the room that you are using and before you exit the rooms simply switch the lights off. The less time you spend with the lights on, the more energy you save. A normal bulb will use 60 watts of energy an hour, meaning that you could conserve nearly 22,000 watts of energy per year by just switching off one bulb for one hour every day. That’s enough energy to power your television for a month. Also try to consider how many lights you need on, or if you need one on at all.

2) Switch Off Water Heater When Not in Use
Is it necessary to keep the water heater on throughout the day when no one is using it? Another simple way to save energy and water is to take shorter hot showers. You will use less hot water - and water heaters account for nearly 1/4 of your home's energy use. Imagine the savings you could gain!
3) Set Your Air Conditioner Temperature to 24 degrees Celsius or at least 1 degree Celsius Higher than Usual
Whether you’ve got a central air conditioner or window Air-conditioning units, the right settings can help you maximize energy savings. The air conditioner’s thermostat should be set to a comfortable 24 degrees. Or you could gradually increase the temperature by 1 degree. Just a 1 degree higher setting could mean significant energy savings of 10%.
And In conjunction with this ENERGY DAY all petrol stations in Brunei will be selling fuel at commercial prices, without subsidy.
We also encourage our in house guest to participate in their own way, we plan to minimize water heater consumption as well as increase Air-conditioning temperature one degree Celsius highest than usual in non essential areas where not occupied but no compromise will be made with regards to guest service standard.

In this 3 month Deedat’s continues to soak up everything in his environment. His favorite activity is watching what goes on around him specially orchid painting ( painted by my wife ) and light, and he understands now that i will soothe, feed, and play with him when he needs you. He'll delight me with his first genuine smile so handsome. My baby enjoys the response he elicits with his grin and comes to understand that smiling is one way to let you know he's satisfied. By 3 months, he'll add some gurgling sounds to his smile, initiating a primitive form of conversation with you.
My junior’s goos and gurgles are probably going strong, but now he's also making consonant sounds, sputtering Ps and Bs and Ms and Ls, aghuhghuh…. I keep saying Assalamualikum to him

Experience Sushi by Sumantri

Sushi is Japanese cuisine, cooked vinegared rice that is commonly topped with other ingredients, such as fish or other seafood, or put into rolls. Sliced raw fish alone is called sashimi, as distinct from sushi. Sushi that is served rolled inside or around dried and pressed layer sheets of seaweed (or nori) is makizushi .Toppings stuffed into a small pouch of fried tofu is inarizushi. Toppings served scattered over a bowl of sushi rice is called chirashi-zushi. Sushi is commonly eaten with condiments. Sushi may be dipped in shōyu, soy sauce, and may be flavored with wasabi, a piquant paste made from the grated root of the Wasabi japonica plant.
Today creativity presented this Japanese in many way that include Sushi in train where you can found as a trend in modern Japanese Sushi restaurant.
