Celebrations have been taking place in Vanuatu to mark 29 years since the country gained independence.
Schools and businesses were closed as many ni-Vanuatu took time out to celebrate the national day.

“The day began with a flag-raising ceremony at Independence Park where hundreds gathered in the rain to watch the military and police parade and to hear the Prime Minister Edward Natapei’s address calling on everyone to celebrate together as one nation. July the 30th marks the day in 1980 when Vanuatu gained independence from britain and France. A number of music, dance and sports events are going on to mark the occasion.”

VANUATU, 22nd April 2009 – Vanuatu Tourism Office supported by Iririki Island Resort & Spa, recently host three days two night familiarization for two journalists from New Zealand, Aim to drive and encourage tourism in Vanuatu as well as a destination.

Namely John Crystal is a freelance travel agent based in Wellington, New Zealand. He is also an Award-winning writer of 2008 in Cathay Pacific Travel writer of the year. John is a winner of story he wrote for “A quite night out in waiting “published in the dominion post, April 2007. Grant Sheehan is an Award-winning photographer who begins working life as survey draughtsman, making maps. However his great love has always been photography and for over the past twenty-five years. Over that time his photographic skills have been focused on architecture-exterior of building and interior-travel. With numerous photos essay on places and people from Africa to Antarctica, plus landscape and food assignments his photograph have been published in international magazines, brochures.

Both journalists were given a warm welcome by Sumantri Endang, the Rooms Division Manager who later host the dinner at Watermark restaurant.

The aim of the visit was to show them Vanuatu as a great destination and Iririki Island Resort & Spa has to offer in order to promote interesting holiday packages for senior citizen in Australia

It was Sue Preston and Tim Acton.Sue is a travel editor for The Austlian Senior publicity is premier newspaper group targeting the over 50’s demographic. The six publications present inspirational, insightful and informative articles across a broad range of topics and issues related to older Australians. Tim Acton is a senior radio talk show traveler at FM 95,7 Melbourne and speaker for many senior community organizations.

Both were given a warm welcome by Sumantri Endang, the Rooms Division Manager. They were taken around the resort to see various accommodations and facilities, and were later taken for dinner at famous Seafood theme night at the Michener’s restaurant. Apart from site inspection,Iririki Island Resort & Spa also organized “ a Day island tour “ and massage at Spa paghipani at the resort for them.

Port Vila 30th June 2009. First ever Iririki Island Resort & Spa ‘A professional Development Workshop’ conducted recently, titles “How to create Policy & Procedure “. Begin with opening remark by resort General Manager, This is a great opportunity for all participant to learn managerial skill, this workshop will bring you to the next level of management style, we are on track our resort is massive being develop say Mr. Daniel faivre.
The objective of this workshop is to enhance all managers to understand and application in depth of how to create policy & procedure concept within the organization and industry. Expecting at the end of the workshop all managers are able to create policy and procedure and completed within 6 months in their department and the policy & procedure serve as resort manual .
Initiatives by Sumantri Endang, The resort Rooms Division Manager, a Master facilitator of this workshop and also an author of the book title Leader’s guide ‘how to create policy & procedure’ A professional Resort Development Workshop. This six hours workshop covered objectives of the workshop, what is policy what is procedure, differentiate between policy, procedure and check list, understand a great policy and procedure, and tips how to make policy and procedure. End of agenda of workshop group and self assessment were conducted to evaluate understanding of the manager’s.
The workshop received an enthusiastic and an excellent comment from participants its created life skill more than life style and most important thing is a commitment from participant to completed their policy and procedure at their respected department. Attended in this workshop, Emmanuel Aru, the Front Office Manager, Maya Rey, Guest Relation Manager, Elizabeth Wowor, the Executive Housekeeper, Marie Patrice, Personal Assistant to General Manager,Metas kalotiti, Reservation Department,Eliane Luankon, Front Office Department, Rowan, IT Department, Tony barton and Ellow Harnold both were from Engineering.
