Brunei Darussalam 13 September 2010. Nearly 100.000 people flocked for the last of three days to Istana and I was one of the well-wishers greeted His Majesty and other member of the Royal family of Negara Brunei Darussalam. An annual Royal Hari Raya open house at Istana Nurul Iman when closed to 36.000 on the third day or final day were myself and other Executive Committee member of The Empire Hotel & Country Club pay tribute to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other member of the Royal family.
The open house event at Istana is awesome moment. Every touch point is an experience from the moment enter the gate of the palace, VIP lounge experience, culinary experience, connect with people from different country and different look, queuing moment, exterior to interior and the most is to be with the king in the biggest palace in the world. And credit to Rahman our Front Office Manager who arranged this visit with VIP treatment.
This massive annual open house gathering is very high potential to draw the world attention. It will be fantastic publicity and great way to create awareness for Negara Brunei Darussalam brand globally. If I have the opportunity thus there is a miracle can allow me to do something on this special occasion I will do the following; ( First ). To make happen that Istana Nurul Iman open house is recorded in Guinness Book of record. 2nd ( second ) To make happen that Istana Nurul Iman open house is recorded in “History Channel” and the third to make sure international media coverage this event.

This 2010 we celebrate Hari Raya in Brunei and Lebaran in Bahasa Indonesia, Hari Raya or lebaran means ‘day of celebration’ after success fasting for a month on Ramadan. Hari Raya/Lebaran is special the day where perfect time to catch up with family, friends and relative. Delicacies’ such as ketupat,rendang,lemang,dodol and more… are available in every house. Further enliven the spirit of Lebaran house are adorned with beautiful lights, flower, Raya decoration etc.
Hari raya begin with Sholat Eid-Ul-Fitri a special mass prayer in the morning but conclude the fasting month every Muslim must pay the ZAKAT fitrah. Celebration continue with visiting open house, hari raya also is a time for forgiveness.
Our Hari Raya this year is superb special, Last year we were in South Pacific two of us only but now in Brunei we celebrate, me, my wife Amirah with Junior DEEDAT which is also celebrating 7 month of age.
