Sheraton Utama Hotel is ready for “Javanese Food Festival “

Bandar Seri Begawan, 22nd of August 2006. Sheraton Utama Hotel in the capital is ready for the up-coming “Javanese Food Festival” held from the 25th August till the 3rd of September 2006.

Sheraton Utama Hotel has flown in Chef Bambang Agung Raharjo from Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta, Indonesia especially for this festival. Chef Bambang has dedicated his talent to developing a vast knowledge and experience in Indonesian cuisine, with several years of experience in internationally branded luxury hotels. Chef Bambang is no stranger to food festivals, for example he also participated in a very successful and similar food festival in Australia a few years ago. He and the kitchen associates of Sheraton Utama Hotel are geared up with an abundance of enthusiasm and creativity to provide you with a fabulous array of authentic food and beverages from west, central, east and other provinces of the Island of Java. Cooking classes will also will be conducted during this food festival on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd of September 2006.

On top of the fabulous food and beverages served during the Javanese Food Festival, you will also be able to experience and enjoy the rich culture and traditions of the Island of Java. Tasek Brasserie, the venue of the event, will be transformed into a retreat expressing the true senses of the Island of Java. From the main entrance called “Gebyok” to the more detailed restaurant setting and décor, all will feature typical Javanese influences such as, bird cages, wayang golek, wayang kulit, batik and much more will be displayed during the festival. Additionally, a “mini exhibition”, showcasing the Island of Java as a splendid tourist destination, will set up at the hotel lobby.

Further more, an attractive program of nightly different Javanese entertainment has been established to ensure that you will never be bored. Entertainment such as an exiting “Treasure Hunt”, Traditional Javanese dance performances, solo gamelan performance, Javanese documentary shown on big screen, wood carving, complimentary shoulder and neck massage courtesy of Cantik Beautyline and “Ngamen”, Indonesian word for “street musician” are set for a nightly performance.

The beautiful Island of Java TREASURE HUNT at Sheraton Utama Hotel

Bandar Seri Begawan 27th August 2006. Simply act like a Javanese farmer or warrior in a photography session is one of the questions which you will come across when participating in the nightly “Beautiful Island of Java Treasure Hunt”. The Treasure Hunt is part of the nightly entertainment program of the Javanese Food Festival held at Sheraton Utama Hotel from the 25th of August till the 3rd of September 2006. The Treasure Hunt is all about discovering the beautiful island of Java and its rich culture and history in a playful and enjoyable manner. All you need to do is come up with 25 answers to 10 questions. To make sure that all participating diners will be able to answer all the 10 questions, 10 clues are provided. Additionally, the participants may also visit the mini exhibition of the Island of Java at the hotel lobby or ask the friendly chefs, waiters or waitresses to assist with finding the answers. The Treasure Hunt will only last one hour. To start the Treasure Hunt, the friendly Treasure Hunt Committee will hit the “Gong”. It is required to clock your starting and finishing time as the fastest time with all the correct answers may lead you to be the winner of the 2 minor prizes given away daily.

All you need to do to participate is dine at the Tasek Brasserie during the Javanese Food Festival from 25th till 3rd September 2006 and let the friendly hostesses know that you wish to participate in the Treasure Hunt.

Apart from the Treasure Hunt there are other performances such as a Traditional Javanese Dance performance, Solo Gamelan, Ngamen (Indonesian word for street musician), Javanese documentary shown on big screen, Indonesian Costume parade as well as a free neck or shoulder massage for all diners provided by Cantik Spa.
